What Is A Personal Care Home?
Personal Care Homes (PCHS) are homes that provide shelter, meals, medication management, 24 hour supervision and assistance with personal care tasks, typically men and women who ages range from 21 to 60 years of age, or people with physical, behavioral health, or cognitive disabilities who are unable to take care for themselves but do not need a nursing home.
Choosing the right Personal Care Home for yourself or a loved one is an important task. Personal Care Homes are inspected and licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) Bureau of Human Services Licensing (BHSL) which is under the requirements of the Bureau in 55 Pa.Code Chapter 2600. The Department inspects each home annually and conducts investigations into complaints and unusual incidents. Services vary and are based on the individual needs.
